Oregon Computer Science Education Organizations

TechStart strongly supports K-12 computer science learning in Oregon and SW Washington.

The following groups have a long track record of providing K-12 computer science courses, project based competitions, and teacher training. Some of the organizations also work with students to provide internships or aid in helping students move into computer science careers. Click on the links below to see more information about these groups and how you can help them by volunteering your time or donating funding.

You can take advantage of these organizations and also support the good work that they do to give our kids the skills they need to thrive.

If you’re a teacher or parent who wants to inspire young women to pursue a career in technology, check out The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT).

Teachers, to connect with other computer science teachers and learn about professional development opportunities, check out the Oregon Computer Science Teachers Association.

If you’re a teacher, student, or parent, and you’re interested in Oregon’s premier project-based organization for computer game development, check out the Oregon Game Project Challenge.

If you’re a teacher, student, or parent, and know a middle or high school student who might be interested in Oregon’s premier project-based organization for FIRST Robotics, check out the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program (ORTOP).

If you know a child in grades K-8 who would like to take a course in arts or technology, check out Saturday Academy.  Saturday Academy also has a great program that provides internships for high school students in industry and at research institutions.
