Saturday Academy

Saturday Academy develops creative, confident, and curious critical thinkers by engaging students in socially conscious and equitable Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) experiences. We spark curiosity, connect our community, and empower students to become the innovative thinkers and problem solvers of the next generation. Saturday Academy offers a wide range of STEAM programming throughout the year for grades K-12 in Portland, Oregon. We offer affordable year-round programs in S.T.E.A.M., including Classes for All Ages, Summer Camps, Days Off!, School Residencies, and Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering. Our programming is designed for parents and guardians seeking enriching, equitable STEAM experiences for their K-12 children, as well as educators and school administrators looking to expand their school's programming with socially conscious, hands-on learning.

We offer classes on coding, including Python and Scratch, as well as animation, LEGO robotics, AI, and more! Additionally, through our ASE program, we connect motivated high school students with pre-professional internships in areas such as 3D Computer Vision, Audio Electronics, Generative AI Security Applications, Robotics Engineering, and more. Saturday Academy has involved 1,100 kids as noted in our 2023 Annual Report. We won a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring, in September, 1996.

Geographic reach: Saturday Academy serves the Portland, Oregon metro area, providing STEAM programming to students across the region. While our primary focus is on our local community, our Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering program extends into communities throughout Oregon including Eugene and Corvallis, allowing us to engage a wider audience, including schools and organizations beyond the immediate area. Our School Residency Programs, which can be customized for specific student and academic needs, extend opportunities for hands-on STEAM learning to schools and educational institutions throughout the Portland metro area.
